MELBOURNE, AUS-(18-5-2005) Sail Melbourne 2006 invites you and your fellow 470 sailors to compete in the ‘Asia Pacific Regatta’. As the only annual ISAF Grade 1 event in the Southern Hemisphere and a crucial event for any serious Olympic Class Sailor, the Sail Melbourne Olympic and Invited Classes Regatta from January 9th – 14th, 2006 is an event you cannot afford to miss!
Known around the world for the exciting sailing on Port Phillip, the professionalism of our Race Management Teams and the competitive fleets of local and international teams brought together each year and Sail Melbourne provides the perfect opportunity for a summer of training and racing during the Northern Hemisphere’s winter. As the pinnacle event in a series of Olympic Class Regattas held in Australia and New Zealand from December 2005 – February 2006, Sail Melbourne brings many of the world’s best sailors together for some terrific racing. Combined with the 2008 470 World Championships (the final qualifying regatta for Beijing) being here in Melbourne, now is the ideal time to come and get up to speed.
Sail Melbourne is already known for the quality of competition on the water and in 2006 we are placing additional attention on making the event even more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Introducing a range of new initiatives from entertainment functions and fun cash prize events for sailors to training regattas and seminars; Sail Melbourne will be an event inclusive of more than just good sailing. Combined with our cost-effective homestay accommodation program and the generous hospitality of Sandringham Yacht Club and the Australian locals and you will feel at home right from the start!
Sail Melbourne can also provide assistance for teams wishing to ship their containers of boats to Australia through regatta sponsors Schenker Stinnes who have substantially dropped their transport rates for Sail Melbourne competitors. Combined with our logistical assistance handling containers, moving boats around the country and contacts for charter boats and it could not be easier or more beneficial for your sailors to compete in Sail Melbourne 2006.
